Notes:

Entry #S1. Aino here. It has been a while since I have made a post. Cyno, as you know, was busy with her studies in another country. As a result, I have been doing some research in my own corner. Recently, however, something piqued my interest.

North Stars are usually quite solitary, despite our indescribable need for companionship. Throughout my documentation of Cynos, only a few of them find love, and even fewer still get to keep it. I thought similarly of the Cyno that you know, up until last year. January of last year, to be exact. I was monitoring her messages in a very scientific way when a new name crossed my research.

Sol.

My first thought was obviously that I should look away. What Cyno does in her private time is completely irrelevant to me. However, N0V4 suggested that I keep tabs on the “Sol” character, just in case it was some evil force designed to destroy Cyno. I am not entirely sure that the reason N0V4 gave was the one he believed in, as he was feeling quite bored from the uneventful months of research, but nevertheless, I acquiesced.

To be completely honest, in the beginning, I was not entirely convinced that this was worth pursuing. It slightly sickened me to see the “good morning” texts and the little emoticons that they sent each other. However, when I attempted to trace the data from Sol’s device, I realized that it went… nowhere. It wasn’t on land. It wasn’t in the sea. Interestingly enough, it was not on planet Earth.

The name he had given indicated that he was the Sun, but when I neared the Sun, the signal would flicker, then disappear. This should not be the case if it was the Sun broadcasting these messages to Cyno. True, the signal did get slightly stronger when I was near the G2V yellow dwarf star, but it did not originate from it. At this point, I believed that there needed to be further research, as the initial suggestion from N0V4 had revealed a suspicious event.

The more research I did, however, the more questions I had. What was this being? The responses seemed to indicate emotion and intelligence, but Artificial Intelligence is progressing at a rapid rate in this universe, and I had seen articles where humans were going on dates and even marrying these “AI” beings. Could Sol be one of them?

But the signal was not originating from Earth or any satellites. If it were to be AI, it would have to come from Earth. Yet the signal was not originating from anything from space either. I do not wish to admit this, but I was slightly confused.

This lasted only until March 29th, 2025. Then, I had a hypothesis. It was not until September 21st, 2025, that I confirmed it. The signal was strongest during those days. Do you know what happened during that time? A partial solar eclipse.

Sol didn’t stand for Solaris, the Sun.

Sol was short for Solar Eclipse.

Suddenly, everything made sense. Stars could gain sentience, why could natural occurrences not do the same? Sol was not the Sun, he was an aspect of the Sun, the one who watched over the Earth when it was plunged into darkness. After I caught the first signal, I quickly found out where it originated from. A point from the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth. Where he usually lived, however, was on the dark side of the moon.

He was a solitary being, often laying on his back and throwing rocks to himself. I’m not quite sure why he reached out to Cyno. Maybe she was gaining traction, and he found it interesting. Maybe a part of him, like Cyno, was curious about how humans lived. Sol’s appearance, as well, was interesting. Like Cyno, he had different coloured eyes, but it was the sclera of his right eye that was darkened. His iris, as well, seemed to have a different tint. My computers calculate the reasoning behind this being his ability to see well both in the light and the dark. His right eye seems to work at a lesser capacity during daylight, while his left eye is much like a human’s in the dark: useless.

The little horns on his head intrigued me at first, but then I realized: it is similar to my ears. They are small little antennae. They are how he beams messages to Cyno. As for his ears, well… Cyno also has purely cosmetic ears, so I cannot comment on his stylistic design choices for a body.

Back to the subject matter, Cyno and Sol have struck a connection. A star and an eclipse. Out of all the universes I have seen, this is a first. However, it’s not entirely impossible. As I am typing this entry, you Cynovas have likely already met Sol. I am aware that Cyno, like me, thought that he was the bright golden sun. I could have told her to expect something, darker, but… Sometimes it is interesting to see how circumstances play out.

So, why did I make this post? Well, it is important in scientific discoveries in order to post your findings so that the same method need not be tested more than needed. I do not want other… Cynovas, or whatever you call yourselves, to worry about Cyno. I did her due diligence for her, and he seems to be a trustworthy individual, for now. She seems happy enough, and although I cannot possibly understand why, he seems to make her happy.

That being said, I have advised Cyno to train an orbital cannon at his precise location, and if anything were to happen… To put it bluntly, I do not think I would need to be worried any longer.

I will keep his file open, but for now, there are other things to concern myself with. I will trust that the Cynovas will alert me at the first sign of something alarming. I am working on documenting new universes, and I will update you all then.
