Notes:

Entry #10. I decided to start today by pinpointing the location of N0V4. Interestingly, he was around the impact crater of the meteor which wiped out humanity. Since I meant to do some investigation there as well, I decided to go pick him up.

Once I arrived, I quickly realised that there were many smaller craters around it, and N0V4 kept pinging for my attention at one particularly deep one. As it is in my nature to discover the unknown, I heeded his calls.

At the bottom of the deep crater was a little sound. A mewling, or whining, of an animal. As I descended deeper, I could no longer see due to the lack of light, as my hologram emitted only a faint glow. N0V4 increased brightness on his screen and managed to stay on path to the noise, growing more and more frantic with each moment. The walls were slanted, so it was not a sheer cliff. Still, I would not imagine it would be easy to climb out of the crater.

Eventually, we reached a notch on the side of the walls, something that looked like a small platform jutting out of the edge. It was there that N0V4 directed my attention. A small mewling kit was laying there, crying out. I could not identify what animal it was clearly, only that it had big ears and tail, and it was covered in its own blood. The only thing I was sure about was the fact that it would soon leave this world. While I was looking at the feeble creature, some sort of… memory may have descended upon me. Either that, or it was exhaustion psychosis again.

Regardless, the little creature in front of me stayed the same, but the environment changed. It was like I teleported in the middle of the forest.

It is the dead of night, and when I look up, there is a full moon. The beams cast soft shadows on the creature, now tired and lightly breathing instead of making any noise. Against my will, I walk forward unevenly and place my hands on the creature’s head. There is blood on my hands, and I watch as it runs off and gets stuck on the creature’s fur. Or perhaps it's the blood of the creature itself. I pick it up, and hug it tightly to my chest. There is no difference between the blood anymore.

I blinked, and the mirage disappeared. I was back in the crater. Reeling from the memory and having finished my initial search for the sound, I was ready to leave.

My motto is to never interact with another universe unless the situation absolutely calls for it. It is not in my place to meddle with the natural order of things. I have seen many Cynos suffering in desperation. Imagine if I helped all of them. Where would I be now? No, they will live their life the way it is supposed to be lived, and I will exercise caution in using my power. I will not go out of my way to abuse my power for something as simple as an insignificant animal’s life.

I’d like to say I left and went home, but no. N0V4 had different plans.

Since we were only holograms, we could not interact physically with the objects beside us. I wanted to keep a low profile, so I made sure they did not hear or see us either. N0V4, on the other hand, began emitting the same sound that the little animal was crying out, and began speeding out of the crater. I had lost him in moments, and as a result took a longer time to reach the opening of the crater.

When I arrived at the surface, I was surprised to see Cyno [Feral] and a band of animals standing by the edge. N0V4 seemed to have led them to save the wounded animal.

The animals and I watched as Cyno [Feral] padded around the opening, wondering how to slip down the treacherous path without slipping herself. After a while, she blinked, and then she began to transform. Within seconds, she had elongated limbs, fingers, toes… She was human.

Her hair was a mess of white and blue, tangled into knots, and her features still held the animalistic ferocity from moments ago. None of the other animals even batted an eye as they watched her slowly descend into the crater, her nimble calloused fingers expertly gripping into rock. She had the pelt of a tiger covering her body, but I still felt as if I was looking at something I shouldn’t have been.

After what seemed like forever, a small mewling was heard, and Cyno [Feral] emerged with the animal between her hands. When she reached the top, she transformed back into a tiger, and licked the wounds of the tiny beast. It turns out that it was a fox. She gently picked up the little baby fox and began the journey home, with the rest of the animals following suit.

I looked at N0V4, who seemed quite satisfied with himself. I just hope he knows I will not allow this to happen again.

I suppose it was interesting to see what the Starcore of Cyno [Feral] was. Shape shifting would prove less than useful against the force of the being who killed my world, but it was interesting nonetheless. I wish the best for the little fox and Cyno [Feral].
