Entry #19. I have finally found a name for her. In order to explain it, however, I will need to recount what I saw today. How I found out about her power was not, in fact, because I shadowed her. I was actually quite curious as to how the diplomat was doing and whether or not he got his message across, so I followed him back to Notus.

There is not much to say about Notus. It is a pretty regular town, and the citizens seem like any normal citizen you would see from your universe. There was a clear gap between these “free” citizens and the ones under Cyno's control.

He had been travelling for quite a while, but I caught him as he was on the last leg of his journey. He seemed a little bit unwell at first, and I assumed he was simply fatigued from his journey. It obviously would not be a simple task for a mere human to talk face to face with a star. But as he lay waiting on the ship, I began to see his condition worsen. His nose began to bleed periodically, leaving stains down his perfectly ironed shirt. He looked feverish, and laid down in bed for a long time. On his cheeks, light bruising had begun spreading from the mark of the kiss.

When they had reached the mainland, I was fairly certain he had passed away. To my surprise, he lugged himself to his feet and staggered to the car. The driver, clearly worried, suggested that they visit the hospital first. He refused to do so, claiming that the news he brought was more important than his health. When the driver inquired about the response of the Empress Cyno, he said that he could not leak private information, but his grin was so wide that the answer was easily gleaned from his expression. The driver was ecstatic as well, and quickly drove him to the leader of the Notus. To my surprise, the leader was a young man, nothing like what I had expected. In fact, he looked rather familiar, although I am not sure when I had seen his face before.

The sickly diplomat barely made it inside the leader’s chambers before he collapsed, heaving up blood onto the floor. The leader rushed to his side, calling his guards to escort him to the hospital. The diplomat refused, urging the leader to open the letter in front of him so he could hear peace with his own ears before he rested.

The leader, worried about his diplomat, hurriedly tore open the letter that was stained with blood. On reading these words, his expression fell.

The diplomat, eyes closed, waited for his response.

“Well? Did I do it?” He wheezed, excited for the answer. He coughed, and red dripped onto the polished floor.

“She…” the leader began, stuttering, “Yes. You did it.”

The diplomat smiled with pride and finally crumpled onto the ground, lifeless. All around, the guards cheered with tears in their eyes. Was it really that simple? The leader stood up, then told the closest guard to call on every able bodied soldier in town. His face collapsed.

The leader did not look angry. Just pained. His eyes reminded me of something. A warmth spread within me. He dropped the letter on the table for all to read, so I peered down to see too. In her perfect, cursive handwriting that I had grown accustomed to reading through her diary, she had written this:

There has never been peace without war.

Despite being faced with overwhelming evidence that this world’s Cyno was warped beyond repair, I decided to visit her one last time to see if she had a hand in orchestrating the death of the diplomat and, if so, how she had done it.

When I found her, she was squatting by a fireplace, ripping pieces of her diary and throwing the pages into the fire. I watched the memories crumble and burn in front of her, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. The fire evoked a sense of fear deep inside me without reason.

There was a knock on the door, and Cyno allowed them to come into the room. They were dressed in all gray, with some sort of thick material covering them. When I floated closer to inspect it, I realized it was lead. They were wearing lead outfits.

The person seemed to be a maid of some sort, dropping off food for her to eat. I watched as she carefully placed it on the table, far away from this Cyno, and hurriedly leave. She forgot a little device on the table, which sat unflinching.

When this Cyno was finished destroying the remains of her diary, I saw that she had left one page: it was something that looked like a picture. She quickly stuffed it in her pocket and walked towards her food.

As she neared it, a light clicking sound was heard, then it increased in frequency until I had to turn down the sound on my headset. The Cyno looked mildly annoyed and smashed the little device that the maid had left behind, leaving it crumbling on the table. Then, she began eating. As I stared at the broken electronic, it dawned on me what it was. A geiger counter.

I then realized two facts.

Firstly, she was the sole cause of the diplomat’s death. Whether or not she meant to do so is one thing. Whether or not she did it is another. The fact that she does not come in contact with humans regularly seems to indicate that she does know of this side effect. However, it does not seem as if she can turn her ability off.

Secondly, I need to make sure to never allow this Cyno to find out about the multiverse. Her thought process and willingness to kill others makes her a highly hostile Cyno, and if I allow her to learn about the existence of other universes, I run the risk of her attempting to “win” them through war. Therefore, I will ask N0V4 to monitor this world closely and to make sure she does not become so power hungry she destroys not only her own, but other worlds. I really had hope for this Cyno, but her personality overshadows her immense energy.

Besides, regardless of whether or not she would attempt to take over the universes just to “save them”, just her mere presence would destroy any place and person she is near, simply because of her power.

After all, she is Cyno [Atomic].
