Entry #A1. You may be wondering why this Entry is called #A1 instead of Entry #12. The reason is because I believe I have stumbled into a particularly interesting universe. I would like to mark this interest with a letter first, in order to differentiate for future reference.
Today, I have visited a new universe. It did not take me long to pinpoint the exact location of the energy that Cynos usually have. However, the radar was at times showing two closely connected points of energy rather than one. They kept merging and glitching from one, to two, to one, to two. Perhaps my system is becoming faulty. It makes sense, as I have been operating this system for many years.
Regardless, I decided to explore the world that this Cyno governed before I went to take notes on her. To my surprise, her version of “Earth” was completely devoid of human beings. There were a select few animals, mainly animals dwelling in the sea or underground. But there were strangely no birds or other mammals. I tried to scout the area to see if there was something physical that wiped them out, perhaps an asteroid or earthquake, but there was no sign of astronomical damage.
Then I tried to see if perhaps there was a plague, some unseen devastation that ran through the human race. But there was no sign of overcrowded hospitals or masks or syringes. There was no sign of a struggle at all. Most of the buildings, although overgrown, were standing tall. The ones that collapsed were due to mother nature’s green fingers. Cars were in the middle of streets, bones lounging on towels at the beach. It was almost as if the world was frozen in place. Were they vaporised instantly? Then how did some animals survive? A change in air pressure? But then again, there were no other signs of damage.
I begin to feel a sense of foreboding, as if my mind was telling me that there was something I was missing. Although I can not take physical form in other universes, I somehow felt my palms begin to sweat and dread creep up my spine. Before I gave in to these feelings of apprehension, I began to hear a soft humming. I’m not sure if began is the right term. Noticed would be the better one.
It washed over me like a lullaby, and almost instantly I felt soothed. The phantom sweat dried on my fingertips, and I began to realize how brightly the sun was shining. Other than the melody of the quiet hum, there was no other sound that I could hear. I liked it that way. I stood there for a long time. It felt almost like an eternity. I couldn’t locate the source of the hum, but it wasn’t as if I wanted to. I wanted nothing more than to stand there and listen, swaying to the soft waves.
Alas, my power must have reached its capacity, because when I opened my eyes, I was back in my chair facing my computer and equipment. I was acutely aware of the grinding and beeping reverberating from the machinery. I still am aware. I believe I will return tomorrow. Perhaps I can locate the sound then. Or perhaps just to enjoy the voice a little more.
